Having your own membership site will give you a steady stream of revenue on the Internet. You may already be part of someone else’s membership program and know how it works. Before starting your own membership site you will want to think about several things. These include the topic you will talk about and the niche you will serve, the decision on what type of information and resources to include in your site, and how much interaction you will have with your members. By thinking about these things in advance you will have a much better chance for success.
The WordPress plugin I recommend for setting up your membership sites is from Stu McLaren and Tracy Childers. I have now used it for seven different membership sites. It is simple to set up and use.
Choosing the right niche to attract members will be the single most important decision you will face. Take a good look at what you are doing to serve others, and find out exactly what they want from you. You may need to conduct several surveys and to do some research to see what will work best in your market.
The best thing will be for you to find competitors that already have a membership site. If there is at least one, you can have a better idea of what your market wants. If there is not a site already, spend the time necessary to find out what people would want to receive if you were to set up a site they could join.
Adding information, resources, and other content to your site does not have to take all of your time. I like to hold teleseminars on my topics and then add them to my membership sites. You may decide to transcribe these as well, because you will find that many of your members will prefer to read than listen. I also purchase PLR (private label rights) content each month to add to my sites.
This is very inexpensive, and once you find the right sites to purchase your PLR from you will look forward to seeing what they have to offer on your topic. I also like to make short videos, about five minutes or less in length. Over time this content builds up, to the point where new members will feel like they have everything they need to achieve their goals.
I interact once each month with my members. This works out well for everyone. They receive the information they need and I have enough time to work on other projects. You must decide what will work best for you. The idea is to build multiple streams of online income on the Internet.
