You may be just getting started with an online business, or you may already be making some money on the Internet. Either way, I believe it is important to learn from those who come before us in any area of life where we want to achieve success. That’s why I want to share my 3 keys to success with you. These are the golden nuggets I have learned since coming online full time in 2006. There are certain things you absolutely must do, and I will explain each one in great detail.
You must become a lifelong learner. Successful entrepreneurs continue to learn, long after achieving their initial success. This means that you must make a plan that includes investing a portion of your profits back into your business in the form of ongoing continuing education in the areas where you need help and where you have interests. As a former classroom teacher and real estate broker/appraiser, I was required to participate in continuing education as a condition of renewing my credentials every few years. I decided to keep my teaching credential and broker’s license after coming online, so this education is something I do to this day. An excellent place to start is with Jim Edwards’ Silver membership program at just $47 each month.
You must have your own product. I love affiliate marketing, and this continues to account for about half of my income each month, but I would not be this successful as an affiliate unless I had started to create my own information products. This allows me to earn money online from what I know and love, while also recommending the products and courses of others. Spend the time to create a product in the area you want to specialize in, and then look for other people’s products to supplement what you have to offer. I recommend starting with a ninety-seven dollar product, and then creating a lower priced product as a follow up as soon as possible. If you need help creating your own product, take a look at this Info Product Creation training.
You must attend at least one live event each year. Last year I attended sixteen live events, including three of my own. This was too much, even for me, do this year I will only attend about ten events. Choose ones that are close to where you live, built around topics you are interested in, and that will be well attended by people you want to connect with. I believe that it is impossible to build a successful Internet business unless you get out and meet people in person. There are currently events being held around the world throughout the year, so there will never be a reason that you can’t find one that is right for you.
Choose trainings that will teach you to do more with your online business, create your own products, and find live events to attend so that you can meet other like-minded people. These are my three keys to success for building a profitable business on the Internet.
