I am often asked just how to choose a niche to write about. Sometimes your niche is so close to you that you can’t see it and other times it falls into your lap unexpectedly. I have taught hundreds of people how to write so I didn’t see that as my niche until last year. Now I help people put their ideas and articles together into eBooks. I have been looking for a new niche to write about and wanted to find something that was close to my heart.
You may know that I have four dogs and write about them regularly. My oldest dog is Jack, a 7 year old dachshund. He has been blind since birth and is a great pet. This past week Jack was just not himself. He didn’t want to play with my three other dogs, drank lots of water, and completely lost his appetite. After two days of this I rushed him off to the vet for some tests.
It turns out that Jack has diabetes. He will now require two insulin injections each day for the rest of his life. I will also change his food and eating schedule and walk him more each day, which will be good for both of us. And, because Jack is so close to my heart, I have now found a niche to write an eBook on. Look around at what is going on in your life. There is probably a niche that is staring right at you.

Jack is adorable. He is a lucky boy to have such a great mama!
