I just came home from the opening ceremonies at the Rotary International Convention. This year it is here in Los Angeles, for the first time since 1962. That was the year former President Ronald Reagan gave the keynote address, back when he was an actor and not yet a politician. As I sat in the large hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center, I looked around at the group of almost 20,000 people who were there with me. We are just a small portion of the 1.2 miliion Rotarians worldwide, living in more than 200 different countries.
As the parade of flags from each of these countries marched by and the Unite States national anthem was sung by a Rotarian from Los Angeles, I began to think of these people as a niche market. Even though we are so diverse by ethnicity, religion, and country of origin we still have so much in common. One of these things is the Rotary motto, Service Above Self. If I were writing an eBook or creating an information product of any kind, what would this group be interested in?
Think of the niche you will be marketing to. Ask yourself these same questions and see what you come up with. Do your research and find out what they care about, what brings them pain, and what problems you may be able to solve for them. Answer these questions accurately and you will have a winning product.
