Making Money On The Internet When You Still Have A Full Time Job

I just returned from back to back internet conferences – one in Atlanta and one in Dallas. While I was there I met many wonderful people who are trying to get started on the internet. The biggest thing they all have in common is that they are still working full time at a job. This gives them little time to pursue their dream. I can relate to this completely, because this is what I was dealing with when I began back in 2005.

At that time I was still teaching school and working in real estate. I had very little extra time or money, but I knew that I wanted to work from home and build an online business. After taking a close look at everything I came to the conclusion that I would need to make a lot of sacrifices in order to be successful.

Every morning I got up about thirty minutes earlier than usual. This made it possible for me to leave for work earlier, avoiding much of the traffic. I would then pull into the parking lot of the post office about two blocks from the school where I was still teaching. For thirty minutes each morning I wrote articles and blog posts in a notebook I kept in the car. It was quiet, uninterrupted time that I truly valued.

One night during the week, and both Saturday and Sunday, was my internet marketing time. I stopped going to the mall and to the movies, turned off my television, and devoted all of my extra time to getting started online. Within 6 months I had resigned from the school district, started giving my real estate assignments to other people, and jumped full time into my new career.

None of this was easy, financially or emotionally. There were obstacles at every turn. But I was persistent, and it soon began to pay off.
