If you read a book review here on this site, you may also notice that the book’s author has made a comment about my review. This is because they have an alert set for their name, and probably one for the title of their book as well. This is a service provided by Google, and I recommend that everyone have these set for their name and other keywords.
Recently Google changed this from ‘Google Alerts’ to ‘Giga Alerts’, but I do not know all of the details. The most important thing is that you know when people are mentioning you online so that you can connect with them quickly. If you have written an eBook or traditional book, be sure to set an alert for that title as well. Be sure to put quotation marks around you name so you will only receive alerts for matches that are pertaining to you. For example, if I do not put quotes around my name, I may end up receiving alerts about other people named Connie (such as the City manger of Kileen, Texas) or about things that are green.
