Helping small service businesses to establish an online presence is an excellent way to make profit while marketing for others. Whether you have been in business for years or are just starting out, marketing for small businesses will take you to the next level in your own business. I started doing this when I was just starting out online as a way to practice what I was learning and to help a family member get more business. It’s almost four years later and now I market for several small service businesses who pay me monthly to write articles, blog, use social media, and more.
Most small businesses know very little about promoting themselves online. Many have used print advertising and direct mail for years, but may not even have a website. If they do have an internet presence, it is usually just a brochure for their offline location and services. This means that few of their prospective customers are able to find them when they do an online search. This can be a huge disadvantage for anyone doing business these days, because more people search on the internet to find local businesses than search in the yellow pages and other telephone directories.
You can play a part in bringing these businesses online. By setting them up with a blog, articles, and social media connections, you will be able to market their business in a way that will attract new customers and keep in touch with past customers as well.
Local, or geotargeted searches account for more than half of the searches done online. By using the name of the city or community in your search results, you will be able to market to the specific target market the service business is hoping to reach. There will usually be less competition for these keywords, making it possible to find new customers within hours of posting an article or posting to a blog or forum.
