A newbie is someone who has only been on the internet for a short time, yet already realizes the power and possibilities it holds. Many of my students came to me originally with only a background in sending and receiving email and occasionally searching for movie times or driving directions. If this describes you, then welcome to a wonderful world.
We all had to start somewhere. My first computer was a Kaypro with dual 5 1/4″ floppy drives and no hard drive. This was in 1983, before Microsoft or Apple came into the picture. I used my computer to write short stories and also when I went for a real estate listing. We had a primitive method of connecting to the Multiple Listing Service through a very slow (300 baud) modem, but my clients saw me as a high tech, cutting edge professional. Many times I was given the listing over someone who had been in the real estate business ten years or more. When I saw the possibilities of what could be accomplished on a computer I was hooked for life. Now I work from home, or from my laptop wherever I happen to be, and haven’t taken a listing or appraised a home in more than two years. It is, indeed, a wonderful world.
So, welcome to all of you, newbies and everyone else, and be sure to sign up for my free weekly teleseminars. Ask me all of your questions, and perhaps you will join me for one of my courses in the future.
