If you’ve been holding your breath while the NFL decided Brett Favre’s fate, it’s time to get back to work. Of course, this is an example of using a current event to get your reader’s attention. You might also have noticed that I am starting to use more graphics, and that is because iClipArt is having a great offer on their clip art service. Check it out if you have been looking for graphics to spice up your blog posts.
Tie your blog posts into what is going on in the world around you, and you will find that your readers are more interested in your blog posts overall. If you can connect your current events post to your niche topic – even better. Football season is right around the corner, so I challenge you to tie it in to your topic and let us know so we can take a look. I will publish links to all blogs using a football connection between now and Labor Day.

Connie,
I try to do this and, like you, find it effective. I am glad you wrote this though as I am so busy recently I did not know Favre had been traded. Thanks.

Hmm. so lets see.
The STAR gossip magazine reports that Clay Aiken had a Baby Boy by his publicist Jaymes Foster! They added:
“Clay became friends with Jaymes after her brother, musician David Foster, appeared on American Idol.”
I could write: “In a previous post, I mentioned how the American Idol tryouts affected local hotel occupancy…” and take it from there. All I need is a ClipArt of a baby boy?
OK, it’s not football but ….

I am so relieved to hear you guys can get back to blogging now that Brett is settled! Please read with tongue in cheek!
But it is important and really useful to tie in events with your blog posts — and the Olympic Games are doing it for me right now. I am not a sports fanatic in the slightest but I try to tie it in to be relevant to my niche.
And the graphics are great — and certainly add something extra.

Hi Connie,
I like the clip art and will go over and check it out for my blogs. Enjoyed the spring jump start ebook class, and will be finishing up my ebooks shortly. Also started teleseminars and find them to be very effective in promoting my books.
Yea, weather it is the olympic games or foot ball stars like Brett Favre, it is great to use current affairs in our posts. Thanks for your tips.

It’s not often I find a really good football article online, most are the same ole’ thing just rehashed.
Thanks for posting something I could really sit down and read.
