“They made it sound so easy” is what I hear regularly from people who come on my calls or sign up for my courses. They, of course, are the people who sell you an expensive online course and make it all sound like you’ll be making more money than you ever have in your life by the time their class is over.
Well, I am here to tell you that you can make lots of money, but it will take time and effort on your part. It is simple, once you learn what you need to do to build an online business, but it is not easy. Remember that this is a business, much like any business, and you need to lay the foundation and learn the skills required to get it up and running. I was able to do it once I realized that all of the skills required were learnable skills, and I made up my mind to learn them.
First, choose a niche market. This is like opening up a bricks and mortar store – it must have a product or service to offer to others.
Next, begin to write as much as you can on this niche topic – articles, blog posts, an eBook – so that you will have products and begin to attract customers. You may also have to run ads in ezines and on Google to attract enough new prospects to start making money.
Finally, learn everything you can about your systems – autoresponders, shopping cart, website, teleseminar system, traffic, conversion, tracking, etc. The more you learn the more money you will make.
Once you are making money, you can outsource the parts of your business that you do not enjoy and take too much of your time. If you stick to this business model, you will make more money than you ever have before.
