When was the last time you sat down and enjoyed a magazine about a topic you write about? Writing articles to market yourself and your business can create a lead generating system for you for years to come. Once the article has circulated around the internet, people from around the world will be able to find you through the articles you have written in your niche. But how do you keep coming up with fresh new ideas for articles on your topic? I have just one word for you – magazines.
Yes, I look through magazines to come up with many good ideas for what to write about next. You can do this with the magazines you already subscribe to, read them at your local public library, or go online to sites that come from the magazine publishers. One of my favorite sites is at Magazines.com.
Sometimes I get ideas just from reading the headlines. Other times, I read the entire section and make notes while I am reading. Either way, I end up with great ideas for more articles that I would never have come up with on my own. You can do the same thing in your niche.
If I were just starting out I would do the following things to get started with my article writing empire.
- Subscribe to the top three magazines in my niche
- Visit the public library every two weeks to read other magazines and periodicals on my topic
- Go online to visit the internet sites set up by each magazine in my niche
- Keep a notebook with me at all times to make notes and record my article ideas
Then I would write an article every day on my topic and submit it to at least two of the largest article directories. This will build your list and grow your visibility and credibility online, to position yourself as an expert in your niche. When you have enough articles, you can combine them into short reports and even expand them into eBooks that you can sell online.
