Copywriting can be a real challenge for those new to marketing on the internet. You may have seen many sales letters by now and are wondering just how people are able to come up with something that will sell their products and services online so well. The answer is that they started with a plan on how to become a copywriter in order to do business on the internet.
When you read a sales letter that is effective, meaning that it makes you want to purchase the product, print it out. This is an effective way to break down the copywriting process into chunks that can be learned.
The first thing you will typically see is the pre-headline. This is where they speak directly to the prospects. It may be something like – ‘attention foot pain sufferers and those whose feet keep them up all night’. If you are suffering from foot pain, this will definitely get your attention.
Your headline is the most important part of the sales letter, and that comes next. You must write many headlines in order to find one that will work the best at persuading people to buy from you. My suggestion here is to read as many headlines as you can, and then rewrite them to fit the product or service you are promoting online.
The headlines that don’t make it as the one you choose to use at the top of your sales letter will become your sub-headlines. These will be used throughout your sales copy to introduce new ideas and concepts. The sub-headlines are important in that they allow you to break up your copy and make the entire sales letter much easier to read.
Spend some time learning how to be your own copywriter and you will grow your business and your bottom line much more quickly than you might have expected. Contact me on Twitter (I’m @ConnieGreen) for a copy of my Copywriting Ecourse.
