Creating an information product to sell on the Internet does not have to be a difficult process. In fact, my recommendation is to do it as quickly as possible in order to continue building your online business.
I am a great proponent of membership sites, so I would suggest selling a low cost digital product that can be used as a way of introducing people to your site. This will work in almost any niche, and you can build an entire business around this concept. Allow me to give you some examples of exactly what I mean with all of this.
Just say that your niche is organic vegetable gardening. You could do a recording to explain how someone would get started with this type of garden, where to get the seeds and soil, and how to care for it. It you are anything of an expert in this area this will be simple for you to do. You can also create a tip sheet, where you will give your prospects tips on how to get started in a step by step way, and some resources that will also be helpful.
Sell this information online for less than thirty dollars. This is an excellent price point so that you will build your client base with people who are both willing and able to spend money to learn more. Your prospects have now turned into clients, and you are ready to tell them more about your membership site. Offer it to them at a special monthly rate, or offer them a one year membership at a substantial savings.
This technique gives you a product and a membership site to bring you residual income for years to come. Each month you can add more info to your site and it will become much more valuable over time. Set up your own membership site today.

I like the idea of creating content with audio or video. Adding a bonus pdf summarizing the points in the video or audio will give buyers a tangible bit of information they can download.
I love jumping into bed with a bit of good reading material before turning off my light.

I’m going to start using more video – I’ve actually written a song as part of the launch of The Mid Life Opportunity. Don’t think it’ll sell though!

My favorite thing to do with these single payment membership sites is make it so they only pay once, but extra content still drips out. They get these little bonuses over time even though the “bonuses” were parts of the product I was going to put into the product in the first place. It’s a good refund killer.

How soon after starting your site should you offer a membership site?
My site’s up and I blog 5 days a week. My eBook should be ready by July 1. I’d like to add a “members only” part of my site, but thought I ought to wait a few months? Bad idea?

Excellent blog post! The more streams of income you have the better. A membership site is definitely going to be part of my future.
