Writing guest posts for other bloggers will enable you to reach a much wider audience in a short period of time. I have just recently become involved in this process, and I must say that I love it! I learned everything I know on this from Nicole Dean’s excellent information on writing guest blog posts.
When you are thinking about starting the process of exchanging posts with other bloggers, you must consider who their target market is comprised of, which topic or topics you will focus on in your posts, and what you will do to follow up with the people who read and comment on your guest posts.
It is easier to exchange posts with someone who has a niche similar to yours, but it certainly is not a hard and fast rule. Read their blog to see what they are writing about. You want to get a good feel for their audience before you start writing your posts.
I think it is best to choose a theme for the three posts you will write. You must assume that many readers will not read all three, so allow each one to stand on its own in terms of content. Recently I used the theme of making money with affiliate marketing even if you have a small list. Each post discussed how you can do this successfully, and gave good information that would be useful to the reader.
Once you have written your guest blog posts and they have been published on the other person’s site, visit their blog daily to read the comments that are being left there. You will want to reply to each comment, making it possible for you to build a relationship with each person during the week you are the guest blogger. After that, make sure you reciprocate by featuring the person on your blog.

Really love the idea of guest blogging. One of the members of the 30-day challenge and I posted at each other’s blogs recently. It was great fun reading the comments on someone else’s blog. I think it adds a little spice, gives your readers a chance to meet someone new, and definitely boosts visibility and credibility.
GREAT tips, Connie!

Connie-
I have secured a mystery guest blogger and we are doing a blog exchange. We have to be secretive and the unveiling of the guest blogger is later this week.
Great tips on going back and reading comments from others reading your post. Will definitely do that.

Hello Connie – we have promoted this concept for some time on our weekly webinars for offline businesses as well. Find a business that is parallel to yours, for example a printer may connect with a graphic artist and copywriter and either share posts on the same blog or post on each others blogs. Great way to expand your market. Thanks for sharing. Sue

Hi Connie,
Thanks for giving us some tips about how to make guest blogging easy. Themes are easy when you work in one or more niches, but even if you can’t find a theme you can read some of the comments from previous posts on the blog where you will be posting and “riff” off of them.
As always with blogging, it pays to use your imagination and help the blog where you are a guest extend their content in new ways.
