Is the technology getting you down? Many people simply give up with their online businesses because the technology is just too much to learn. Even though I teach technology to others, there is still so much I do not know how to do.
My recommendation is to learn one new thing at a time. I choose something I want and need to learn to help my business, and then spend time learning how to do it. Right now I am spending time learning how to hold and record webinars for my technology courses. I signed up for a 30 day trial and then scheduled my first webinar for the following day. I watched the introductory video and then invited my mentees. The result: I had checked one box incorrectly and they didn’t receive the invitation in the right way.
Instead of letting this get me down, or deciding that webinars were too hard, I scheduled another one for two hours later. I had several people on with me this time, and we experimented together to see how everything worked.
There are also many free resources online. I like HP’s free online learning center, which offers classes in just about everything related to computers and business. Another option is to hire someone to help you with the things that you are not trained to do. For example, I am not good at Photoshop or other graphics, so I have two people who do this for me regularly. It is worth the money because this is an area where I do not have the talent, training or interest.
Approach technology as a young child would, by being willing to try different things to see what will work. If everything gets messed up, you will know that way does not work. Having the right perspective will make technology an adventure instead of a chore.
