I had always wanted to have a membership site, but when I first came online a few years ago it was just too expensive. The software that was available at that time cost several thousand dollars to purchase initially, and then required you to have a webmaster on call to make changes and updates. Anyone just getting started with an Internet business did not have an opportunity to do this easily and inexpensively.
In 2008 Stu McLaren and Tracy Childers teamed up to create a WordPress plug-in called Wishlist Member. This made it possible for all of us to set up a membership site within a few hours for just $97.
