Interviews are another great way to get more visibility both online and offline. This works both ways, so be open to both interviewing others and being interviewed yourself. It’s best to have an organized approach and to plan your interviews in a logical way. Deciding who to interview, what topics to discuss when you are interviewed, and how to get the most from these interviews after they are completed is key to building visibility and credibility online.
When I was just starting out, I asked almost everyone if I could interview them, regardless of their niche or what information they could provide to my target audience. I interviewed a fine artist, a local chef, and a long time friend who had been successful in real estate before I realized that this was not a great idea. My prospects were confused about the message I was attempting to deliver. The only good that came from this was that I became more comfortable during the interview process.
Now I understand the importance of doing things that are relevant to what I am doing on the Internet for my business. Each interview is carefully thought out in advance. There are sites that allow you to register to be interviewed on your topic. I am using RTIR for this purpose. This enables you to find people to interview and to be found as a guest to be interviewed. You can decide what topics your target audience wants and needs to know more about and then find the people to interview who would be the best ones with that area of expertise. Allowing yourself to be interviewed is also helpful in other ways; I had two people in one month tell me they wanted to ask me about one topic that I did not consider myself to be an expert in. When I took a closer look, I saw that they had seen something that I was simply too close to.
Once you have completed your interviews, you can do several things with them. I like to add them to my membership sites as additional content for my members. You can also package them and sell them to people who are interested in learning more about the topics covered in your interviews. You can also use them as bonuses for other products and courses you are promoting. Any way you look at it, interviewing other experts and being interviewed on the topics you are knowledgeable about is an excellent way to boost your credibility and increase your visibility on the Internet to grow your business.
