Although I have had my Twitter account for more than a year now, it has only been in the last six months that I have become a regular and serious user of this site. Twitter is microblogging, which means that you only have 140 characters to get your message across.
It is important to have a strategy when you sit down for a session on Twitter. I never stay on for more than fifteen minutes at a time. This keeps me from getting caught up in a conversation that will just eat away at my valuable time. Within the 15 minutes that i am there, my goal is to answer anyone who has written to me, look for some new people to follow, and to provide useful and helpful content on my niche topic. During this time I will also promote something I am doing or an affiliate’s product or service.
I will do this several times each day, making sure to limit my time there. I want to work in my own business, so Twitter is strictly a social networking site for me. Right now I am on day 6 of a 30 day blogging challenge. This is good for everyone and make it more fun to see what others are writing about. Twitter has built my business dramatically during the past several months, so be sure to follow me there (I’m @ConnieGreen) and let’s connect.

Terrific advice! Twitter (and other social sites) can really eat away the time if you don’t have a plan and stick to it.
