Jeanette Cates and I just finished our second webinar for our course ‘DotcomJumpstart‘. Tonight we showed the students how to use FileZilla, a free FTP (file transfer protocol) program, in order to transfer files from their computer to their website.
I’ve only known how to do this for a couple of years, so I remember how confusing this was when I first tried to do it. Tonight, in front of about 50 people, I was able to connect to the server, upload the files, and create new directories without a problem. Jeanette’s been doing this for at least ten years, so she just takes it for granted.
Even if you have a webmaster that does all of your web design and website management for you, like both of us have, you will still want to know how to do this yourself if you want to make a fast change to one of your sites. This is just one area that you can master if you take the time to learn how to do it. It will help you to achieve the freedom that you are seeking by having an internet business. Technology doesn’t have to be difficult; you’ll find everything is simple once you learn how to do it.
