I write lots of articles. If you go over to my page at EzineArticles, you will see that I take it seriously. But we must always remember the outcome we are working towards by writing articles – to build a list or to sell a product.
You may be thinking that articles are good for bringing more traffic to your blog or website. But all the traffic in the world is worthless unless someone opts in to your list or makes a purchase.
Think about this when you are writing and submitting your articles. Spend as much time on the resource box as you do on writing the article, because a great article will not do you any good if you do not have a call to action in the resource box (also known as the bio) that makes the reader click on your link and then sign up or buy something.
Read some articles and see what you do at the end. If you are not compelled to click on the link and take action, the author has not done their job. Learn from the articles you read. Most authors simply tell you about themselves in the resource box and do not tell you what action they want you to take.
Articles go viral online, get picked up by ezines, and included in short reports, so many more people are then reading them. You can always edit your articles and change the resource box. This is a valuable use of your time.
