Outsourcing is an idea that makes sense for anyone working online. It refers to the concept of having others help you do things that you don’t like to do, or that you don’t do well. You will accomplish so much more when you are willing to have others assist you in your business.
We outsource every day in the offline world. We would not dream of doing many activities that are best done by others. For example. I outsource changing the oil in my car, cutting my hair, mowing my lawn, and dry cleaning my good clothes. Most of us also outsource growing out fruits and vegetables, maintaining a swimming pool if we have one, and educating our children. There are exceptions to this, of course, such as with homeschooling, taking care of your own yard and pool, and doing your own oil changes. But none of us can do everything, so that’s where outsourcing comes in.
Finding the right people to help you run your Internet business will free up your time to do the things you must do. Every business is different, but for me that would include writing, holding teleseminars and webinars, and consulting with my students.
Make a list of all of the activities that are involved in keeping your business going on a daily basis. What can others do for you? Start out with something small, like having someone go to the post office for you or answering the phone for a few hours while you are writing. I outsourced my technical work and graphic design right away, because these were things I was not good at. Once I was making money regularly from my Internet business I outsourced my bookkeeping and other record keeping. I was not doing it properly and it became a chore I dreaded each month. The man who now handles this for me loves doing.
Do what you are good at and look forward to doing. Outsource other parts of your business to people who love doing what you do not. This will build a stronger business and give you a lifestyle you will enjoy more.
