I bet you’re thinking that I got this backwards, that it should be ‘when the student is ready, the teacher appears’ – but that’s not what I am talking about here. You see, I used to be a classroom teacher and taught all the way from Kindergarten through 12th grade for most of a 20 year period. When I left that world and came online, it wasn’t long before I missed having students that I was accountable to for their learning experience.
For the first eighteen months after I left my old life behind – I was also a real estate broker and residential appraiser – I was a student of online marketing. I was simply amazed at how much I did not know about getting started with an Internet business. I spent eight hours each day trying to soak up as much information as possible. It took me a year to finally understand how I could create a business out of what I was doing on the Internet. As soon as I started making money I made a promise to myself. This was that I would teach others how to build an online business in less time than it took me, helping them to sidestep the mistakes and pitfalls that I had encountered.
And then it happened; people began asking me to teach them how to make money online. The teacher was now ready, and the students soon appeared. My life now is more rewarding than at any other point in my life. I’m a teacher again, and now I have enough time and money to enjoy it to its fullest.

And what a terrific teacher you are Connie. I think your post here is important for everyone (not just onliners) to pay attention to because it’s like everything else. We have created our circumstances. And you are a teacher no matter what. You just can’t do teaching for 20 years and then “stop being a teacher”. you had to be at the point where you wouldn’t let your students down, though because that is part of your integrity and work ethic. So, when you were ready, you opened your “doors” (external and internal) and allowed them in. And we are grateful

‘Once a teacher, always a teacher’ ~ we just can’t switch it off!:-)
What I really love and appreciate about you is your integrity and your ‘teacher’ ethic. You have committed to teaching your students something and you are holding yourself accountable. It doesn’t just live in the classroom, you bring it out into everything you do in the world.
Your word means the world.
And, like all the best teachers, you carry on learning and sharing yourself.
I echo Terrie – we are grateful!
Much love

I was thinking this same thing today! It’s so easy to think that you don’t know enough to teach others. But what we too often fail to realize (or at least I do) is that there are new people coming online every day looking for what we already know.
So whether your niche is dog training, piano teaching, or whatever, you can teach someone. You don’t have to know everything to be considered an expert. You just have to know more than the people you’re teaching…and how to connect to those students.

I was just listening to the audio from the seminar with Nichole Dean, and the one thing that stood out for me was that we are all experts at things and we need to put our knowledge out there for people to use. information products (and gifts) help everyone and we all are so capable of giving.
and to Todd’s comment, it is so true that ‘experts’ are often just a few steps ahead of their followers. Have confidence and things grow.
When I was teaching OSHA safety, every class was better than the last because of questions the previous students had.

I wonder, Connie, if you’re aware of what ALL you’re teaching? You’re dragging this lone wolf introvert type out into social situations, being visible, interacting instead of lurking on the outskirts. Scary stuff, but I’ll get the hang of it. Thanks!

I’d like to echo and underscore Heather Bestel’s remarks and send out a nice juicy Apple for the Teacher! Being an instructor myself for the past 29 years, I embrace and enjoy your teaching style, Connie.
