 Starting an Online Business to Change Your Life

Starting an online business has changed my life. When I desperately wanted to leave my job as a classroom teacher, as well as wind down my real estate business as a broker and appraiser back in 2005 I just wasn’t sure what the next chapter of my life would look like. Lucky for me it all unfolded in a magical way once I made the decision to take action.

I am a person of strong faith. I believe that we can have whatever we want in our life if we believe it is to be and take the action steps necessary to get there. Once I discovered that people had businesses on the internet that could supplement or replace their current income I was all in.

During 2005 I had begun attending conferences and workshops that were designed and intended to change my mindset around money. These led me to a specific event in Los Angeles where I was presented with a collection of CDs. These were interviews with people from various walks of life, discussing their ideas and businesses. Many were authors and speakers and some worked exclusively online. During the next several weeks I listened to all of these recordings and that is where I discovered the people who had online businesses they were running from home or from wherever in the world they happened to be. I decided that I would follow this path and build my own online business.

Starting an Online Business is a Journey

The road was more difficult than I had imagined it would be, and the learning curve was a steep one. If not for my strong faith that I would succeed I might have given up at some point along the way. But I was will to do the work and to learn what needed to be done in order to build a successful online business. It look me eighteen months to replace the income I had earned as a teacher and in real estate. During that time I connected with people who were already having great success as online entrepreneurs, many of whom I still know to this day.

Once I had replaced my income I began thinking about how I could serve others who wanted to have a similar lifestyle and my mentor program was born. Once again I was a teacher, this time with students around the world who wanted a different life. They had messages to share with the world and I vowed to help them make it happen.

Beginning with affiliate marketing as my business model, I recommended the people, products, and services that continued to help me move forward. After a year I started creating my own information products and services through teleseminars and written materials. The following year I added webinars to my toolbox and reached even more people who were interested in learning from me.

I had also begun marketing for small businesses in my local area and began teaching a simple course on how others could do the same thing. We were going through the worst recession in the United States since the Great Depression and I knew that helping small businesses keep their doors open was important for our economy and for that of the world.

Starting an Online Business Turns to Authorship

In 2010 I published my first book, “Huge Profits with a Tiny List: 50 Ways to Use Relationship Marketing to Increase Your Bottom Line.” This taught me the importance of writing on my topic and allowed me to add authorship as a business model. To date I have written and published well over a dozen books on various aspects of my online business and entrepreneurship. Speaking engagements soon followed and I have now spoken on four continents and in half a dozen countries.

When I think back to what I knew when I began this journey and how much I have learned and grown as a human being since that time I am astonished at my progress. To think that we all have so much more potential than we will ever tap into is an area I dream of expanding. We live in a world where magic happens all around us. Starting an online business allows you to leverage the power of the internet and change your life forever as an online entrepreneur.

If you are serious about starting an online business you must first believe it is possible, then take action every single day, and finally share your experiences with others as they make a similar decision as to the course of their lives. You can do it and live a joyous and prosperous life as a result.
